Last Friday Josh and Julian from the Caravanserai were invited to Groundwork’s “Greening the Overground” event, which aimed to brainstorm ideas to make Overground stations more energy efficient and greener. Set in the ‘London living room’ at the top of the GLA, the views were spectacular.
We we’re asked to bring an example of a Park on Wheels so we took Parks on Rails a mobile workshop and growing space. Everyone was impressed by the foldout design which facilitates a workshop to be set up anywhere, animating a site within seconds.
Through the course of the evening and as the Brondesbury Stations fine home brew (Brondesbury station is a pilot green overground station which has hops growing amongst it’s community growing and Sam has created a fine stout with them) was flowing each group came up with ideas for how to green their own overground station. Or trains, as our team did, with a an idea to utilise the gap at the top of the trains to make mobile mushroom farms!
