Last weekend Canning Town Caravanserai opened its gates to all music and summer lovers to spend some time under London’s bright sun along with some food, drinks and of course good live music from Broken Light and Arch1. Caravanserai’s Music Weekend Festival had a great kickstart on Saturday with Broken Light All Dayer, a day that was full of creativity and community engagement.
Some of the local area’s newest talents were performing live at Flying Carpet Theatre, while Trading Kiosks were filled with creative people that were showcasing growing, herbalism, ceramic gardening solutions, vintage clothes, craft cards, drama workshops and interactive theatre games. People were strolling around the different activities taking place on site, stopped by Saville’s tent to have some delicious french galette wraps and ended up in The Maze, an interactive art installation that was placed in The Flitched. Café Oasis was open in the morning to serve tea and coffee to musicians, artists and traders while later the Caravanserai Team was serving chilled refreshments to guests.
It was an early morning’s start that day for the Caravanserai Team, as we spent most of the morning making final preparations and assisting on musicians and artists to get everything ready for the big event. All of our hard work proved rewarding when all kinds of different people filled the site; people were strolling around, dancing, singing or chilling on our urban beach while children were all around the site playing and brightening up the space.
We are looking forward for our next big event that will take place at Canning Town Caravanserai over the Bank Holiday weekend in August! Caravanserai Music Festival in collaboration with Arch 1 will start on Saturday 23rd August and go on till Monday 25th August.
